Sacramento Area Weather
Sacramento has a Mediterranean climate characterized by damp to wet, cool winters and hot, dry summers. The wet season is generally October through April, though there may be a day or two of light rainfall in June or September. The mean annual temperature is 61.1 °F with a monthly mean ranging in August of 75.4 °F. August often sees triple digit temperatures. Summer heat is often moderated by a sea breeze known as the "delta breeze" which comes through the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta from the San Francisco Bay.

Stay Healthy in the Summer Heat

Drink more fluids (nonalcoholic), regardless of your activity level. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink.

Don’t drink liquids that contain caffeine, alcohol, or large amounts of
sugar — these actually cause you to lose more body fluid.

Never leave anyone, including pets, in a closed parked vehicle.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and heat cramps.

Always wear sun protection to avoid skin damage.
